Relationship between expression levels and gene product properties
We are interested in investigating the relationship between expression levels and gene product properties. In the figure, we show that a strong relationship exists between mRNA expression levels and aggregation rates of disease-related human proteins, whose kinetics was measured in vitro under near-physiological conditions. The coefficient of correlation between these two quantities is 0.97 (taken from Vendruscolo M and Tartaglia GG. Towards quantitative predictions in cell biology using chemical properties of proteins, Molecular BioSystems 2008, 4, 1170 – 1175).
