Presentation

The Science and Society programme of the Centre for Genomic Regulation brings together various science outreach and communication activities with the following common objectives:

  • To communicate the cutting-edge research done at the centre
  • To promote scientific vocation in young people
  • To promote scientific literacy among the general public

In the same way that research is consolidated by the incorporation of new research groups and the generation of high-level knowledge, the CRG also has been gradually expanding its educational offer and science outreach programme.

At a time when science represents a way of changing the economic and social model, scientific literacy should be boosted particularly by those who generate that knowledge. The CRG seeks to bring science closer to society by encouraging critical thinking and offering new educational resources to students and teaching staff.

All our activities are free thanks to the support of the Severo Ochoa Excellence programme and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT for its initials in spanish) of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, and the Barcelona Cultural Institute (ICUB for its initials in catalan), of the Barcelona City Council.

Activities are organised and coordinated by the Public Engagement & Science Education Area, within the Department of Communications and PR at the CRG, which is a recognised Scientific Literacy and Innovation Unit (UCC + I) by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT).
