This workshop, aimed at 5th and 6th grade primary school students, is an experiential activity in which students explore the cell through experimentation, curiosity, art, and reflection. It also includes a visit to the CRG facilities.
In each session, the content is adapted to the students’ knowledge level and is aligned with the school curriculum.

Workshop content

What do we know about the cell?
Introduction to the centre and brainstorming about the cell.

Extracting and observing our own cells under the microscope
Students observe their own cheek cells using a microscope.

Building a cell
Each student creates a model of a cell using modelling clay, including its main components.

Experiment: protection against UV light
An investigation into the relationship between cells and their environment, and testing different protection systems (clothing, creams, etc.) against UV radiation.

Discovering the CRG
A visit to the facilities to learn first-hand about genomics research and how potential risks are addressed.

Registrations for the 2026/27 school year will open on Monday, June 8 at 9:00 a.m. via the PAE platform (selecting in the dropdown menus the educational stage Primary Education, upper cycle, and the institution Centre for Genomic Regulation).
