World Cancer Day event: Presentation of the book "Mi cáncer y yo"

Our director, Miguel Beato together with the author, Susana Frouchtmann, will chair the presentation and some invited speakers will give their opinion about cancer.

Where is the limit between controled drugs consumption and addiction? What happens to my brain when I take drugs? Why taking drugs is bad if it makes me feel so good? Is there any genetic predisposition for becoming an addict? Is it possible to take drugs "under control"?

2008 Brain Illusions Fair

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), the Event lab from the UB and IDIBAPS, and the Neuroscience Institute of the UAB are proud to present you the 2008 Brain Illusions Fair.

The science fair will be host on Friday 19th of December from 7pm till 12pm, at Razzmatazz Sala 2 (Calle Pamplona 88, Poble Nou, Barcelona). Entrance is free for every one above 16 years old (with ID).

What is in vitro fertilization? Whom could it help? Is it a safe technique? How far will we reach? These questions and much more will be discussed in the scientific caffe.

In vitro fertilization was revolutionary a few years ago. Now, after new findings in the fiel, it still present new challenges. A genetically selected baby was recentily born in Spain and It has opened a new ethical discussion. Our invited experts will help us to find answers and to stablish some bases in the dicussion.

Life Sciences ERC Grants in Catalonia

The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), invites you to the presentation of the projects awarded with Life Sciences ERC Grants in Catalonia.

The responsible of the Comission for Universities and Research, Blanca Palmada, will chair the event and will take part in its closure together with the director of the Centre for Genomic Regulation, Miguel Beato.

SmS - CRG Scientific Cafe: So, what's cancer?

Burnt bread, microwaves, mobile phone... are they carcinogenic? Are all cancers the same? How can research help for the cancer cure? Is cancer hereditary?

Cancer is part of our lives and, for that reason, It is always dragging off a lot of myths and taboo. This scientific cafe wants to offer a good dialogue about that question bringing some information about cancer and recent research in that field.

CRG is pleased to announce this year's symposium on the "Mechanisms regulating cell Growth and Division." These two processes are tightly coupled and the aim of the meeting is to bring to the forefront keys issues related to cell growth and division. Leaders in the field will discuss their findings and help outline the future directions.
