Microtubules are essential for many cellular functions, yet the mechanisms that regulate their properties remain incompletely understood. One proposed regulatory mechanism is the tubulin code, which arises from the expression of different tubulin isotypes and their post-translational modifications. In this talk, I will discuss how tubulin composition influences the intrinsic properties of microtubules. Specifically, I will show how differences in tubulin composition affect both microtubule dynamics and lattice architecture, providing insight into how tubulin diversity contributes to microtubule regulation.
