nf-core Hackathon

nf-core Hackathon
nf-core Hackathon
A hybrid hackathon to develop nf-core together
Join the nf-core community hackathon for three days of collaborative development—in person at CRG (Barcelona) or online, March 11–13, 2026. The hackathon brings together researchers, bioinformaticians, and developers to improve nf-core pipelines, modules/subworkflows, tooling, and documentation, and to plan new community initiatives.
What will happen at the CRG hub
At CRG we’ll meet in person and focus on open issues across nf-core pipelines, including work on nf-core/proteinfold (in collaboration with other sites, with daily syncs across locations). The CRG hub is hosted in the CRG Training Center (PRBB Patio), accessible from the main lobby without a visitor card.
Format & schedule
The event is designed to be flexible across time zones, with a light central schedule, including daily wrap-ups and social activities (CRG’s local schedule is TBD).
How to participate
- Registration opens Feb 9, 2026 (details on the main event page will follow).
- Bring your laptop and come ready to collaborate—typical prep includes joining the event Slack channel, having GitHub set up, and installing Nextflow + nf-core/tools plus a container / environment manager.
- Want to propose a project? You can submit a project via a pull request and indicate whether it’s CRG or online so participants can match projects to their attendance mode.
Practical note
- This is an in-person site, and quiet space for online meetings cannot be guaranteed.
