The Workshop Active Bystander, aims to equip participants with crucial skills to challenge inappropriate behaviour and stimulate everyone to take an active role in the shaping of a culture of mutual respect and dignity and collectively tackle behaviours that can lead to bullying and harassment across the institute.
Topics that are going to be addressed:
- Training session which gives staff and students the skills to challenge unacceptable behaviours, including those which may have become normalised over time
- A video demonstrating bystander apathy
- References to high profile examples of inappropriate/unacceptable behaviour
- Decision-making techniques to help people overcome fear and self-doubt when faced with a challenging situation
- Assertiveness techniques to give the confidence and tools to speak
