Welcome to the CRG TTO

CRG’s Technology Transfer mission is to facilitate the exploitation of our research results for the public good and to help the economic growth of the life sciences sector in our region. Our will is that scientific results generated at the CRG will develop into novel therapeutic, diagnostic and other type of products which will contribute to the wellness of our society.
CRG’s Technology Transfer was established in late 2005. Very briefly, our activities can be summarised as follows:

  • Identification and valorisation of inventions with commercial potential
  • Securing the necessary property rights
  • Marketing and licensing CRG’s know-how and technology through negotiating and executing agreements with companies and the foundation of spin-off companies.
  • Consultancy services and research agreements

Pablo Cironi, Ph.D.
Head of Technology Transfer

Dr. Cironi holds a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Buenos Aires, and a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Barcelona. From 2005 to 2009 he was a postdoctoral Fulbright Fellow at the Department of Systems Biology at Harvard University. In 2009 he joined the Botin Foundation as Senior Innovation & Technology Transfer Manager, where he was responsible for identifying new business opportunities, managing the IP portfolio and defining business strategies to bring academic and public-based research ideas to market. With over 14 years of research and development experience in the Drug Discovery, Molecular Biology, Synthetic Biology and in Biologics, and 6 years managing technology transfer and commercialization processes, Dr. Cironi has acquired a unique and strong acumen in strategy and innovation.

Silvia Tórtola, Ph.D.
Project Manager

Bachelor of Science in Biology from Universitat de Barcelona (UB), Ph.D. in Biology and Master in Immunology from the same institution. Professional with eight years of research experience abroad, both in public institutions and biotech companies, and more than seven years of experience in Technology Transfer at the CRG.

Ester Montava
Administrative Assistant

Bachelor of Art History, has attended throughout his career complementary formation in Secretarial tasks, Sales techniques and Management. More than 21 years of experience in a multinational private company. Currently she is the CEO Assistant and combines this position with the support to the Technology Transfer Department.
