At CRG, we believe that language is more than just words—it’s a bridge to integration, collaboration, and personal growth. That’s why we offer free Catalan, Spanish, and English courses to all employees, visitors, collaborators, and EMBL Barcelona staff.

General Information:  

Format: Online sessions via Teams, supported by an online learning platform for materials, resources, and communication with the teacher  
Languages: Spanish, Catalan and English  
Group Size: Approx 7 participants  
Levels: From beginner to advanced  
Eligibility: CRG staff and visitors and EMBL Barcelona staff  
Semester duration: February 16th to April 2nd 2026 
Schedule: Twice a week for one hour (Mon & Wed or Tue & Thu)

Enrollment: 

Please express your interest for a specific Language Course through the following FORM no later than January 30th, 2026 at 15:00 CET.

ALL interested must register! Even if you attended the previous edition.

  • Berlitz language school will reach out to you to complete the needs assessment and placement test if needed. If you participated in the previous edition (October-December 2025), you are not required to do a placement test again.
  • Placement tests for newcommers will happen in the first week of February 2026.
  • Once your level has been determined, you will be placed in a group that matches your proficiency (if there are slots available). At this stage, you will be able to confirm or decline participation in the course.
  • Classes will start on February 16th, 2026

* If you're a newcomer at the institute, you will first need to get the institutional email and NIE/DNI.

Conditions:  

  • The courses are fully funded by the CRG and are therefore free for participants. 
  • Only apply if you will be able to attend the classes in total. 
  • The classes take place during working hours and therefore do not need to compensate for the time.  
  • A minimum attendance of 75% per month (based on connections to classes) is required. IF you do not comply, you will not be able to enroll in the next edition of the course.
  • Certification will only be provided if you attend more than 75% of the classes.
  • When you are unable to attend a class, please remember to email customerservice@berlitz.es by 3:00 pm the day before indicating the reason for the absence. 

This attendance policy ensures effective learning, which is our primary objective in providing these courses.
