Summary

My research aims to understand, predict and engineer the encoding of biophysical and regulatory properties by biomolecular sequences. The computational analyses and methods I develop take advantage of the systematic nature of deep mutational scanning (DMS) data to infer the parameters of fundamental biophysical processes such as protein stability, affinity, aggregation and allostery.

This work is multi-disciplinary, relies on close collaborations with wet-lab scientists and has various biotechnological implications including within the field of clinical genetics and for the development of therapeutics.

I am an advocate of (and contributor towards) open science practices and open-source software. In this spirit I developed DiMSum: a software pipeline that represents an end-to-end solution for obtaining reliable fitness and error estimates from DMS data (https://github.com/lehner-lab/DiMSum), and MoCHI: a software tool that simplifies the inference of mechanistic models from deep mutational scanning data (https://github.com/lehner-lab/MoCHI).
