CRG renews the Severo Ochoa accreditation

The Spanish Research Agency announced today the research centres and units awarded with the Severo Ochoa and María de Maeztu accreditations. The Centre for Genomic Regulation has renewed this honour, which will be valid for the next four years and will fund the centre with 4 million euros.

In this call, seven ‘Severo Ochoa’ accreditations were given, three of them awarded for the first time and four renewals. Two of these renewals were awarded to BIST centres IFAE and CRG, so they continue to be distinguished with this excellence award.

In the opinion of the evaluation committee, the centres renewing their accreditation not only confirmed their positioning as a reference in their respective fields at national and international levels but also consolidated their scientific leadership over the previous four years while benefiting of the Severo Ochoa grant.

The Severo Ochoa excellence accreditation has a double goal. On the one hand, it aims at recognizing the best research institutes and units in Spain, which stand out for their impact and international relevance according to their results over the last four years. On the other hand, and by funding the strategic plans of the centres and units, it contributes consolidating their scientific capacity and boosting their international leadership.
