Learning Vim (CRG staff only)

Learning Vim (CRG staff only)
This hands-on course introduces participants to Vim, a fast and lightweight text editor commonly used in Unix-based systems and essential for working on remote servers or clusters. Participants will learn the logic behind Vim’s modal interface—normal, insert, command-line, and visual modes—and practice efficient text navigation, editing, and customization. Through real-time exercises and guided practice using vimtutor, the course will help participants build fluency with key commands, motions, and shortcuts, gradually developing skills needed for productive work in terminal environments. No prior experience with Vim is required, making this course ideal for beginners and those looking to improve their command-line editing skills.
