iCLIP: Genomic views of protein-RNA interactions

Throughout its life cycle, each RNA will interact dynamically with numerous RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) that determine how the RNA is processed, where it is localized, whether it is translated and finally how it is degraded. In turn, RBPs can interact with hundreds to thousands of cellular RNAs by recognizing certain sequence motifs or structural elements. Understanding these interactions in a genome-wide manner is crucial for gaining a complete picture of an RBP’s specificity and function.

NGS'18: Next Generation Sequencing Conference 2018

Hosted by the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) and the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), the Next Generation Sequencing Conference 2018 (NGS 2018) is a dedicated meeting on cutting-edge approaches to the processing and analysis of Next Generation Sequencing data. The goal of this conference is to bring together bioinformatics researchers and biologists facing new high-throughput sequencing challenges. The conference will feature presentations showing how current platforms can be used to address key biological questions and on the current state of the art for data analysis. Emphasis will also be placed on emerging and future trends in high-throughput sequencing and the associated computational challenges.

Workshop: Scientific Careers inside and outside academia

Do you have enough information about potential careers inside and beyond academia?

Are there professional opportunities for PhDs outside the academic world?

How is that job market?

Are PhDs really valued in industry?

Is it possible to combine work in the lab with a hobby that could lead you to a new professional path?

Challenges and Opportunities for Research in Africa

The workshop aims to promote debate and exchange of views on the challenges and opportunities of carrying out research in Africa and in collaboration with Africa. Two fellows awarded by the Women for Africa Foundation will tell their stories about their research experience in Africa. Cristina Pujades will explain her involvement in training activities in Kenia in collaboration with “TReND in Africa” (Teaching and Research in (Neuro)science for Development in Africa), a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteer scientists at universities worldwide.

C. elegans development, cell biology and gene expression

Caenorhabditis elegans has long been a leading model organism for the study of animal development and behaviour. The C. elegans community continues to produce scientific breakthroughs and technological advances at a high pace. We invite you to attend the upcoming EMBO Workshop: C. elegans Development, Cell Biology, and Gene Expression, in association with European C. elegans Meeting, for the latest cutting-edge research.
