II. Practical part (at the machine in the 5th floor)

The course will give an overview of important concepts and methods used to analyse “Biomedical data”. The emphasis will be on the understanding of statistical concepts and their interpretation in a research framework. After a general introduction on probability theory and statistical inference, an emphasis will be made on common statistical methods. Particular cases will be used as illustrative examples.

Structural analysis is a key aspect for a detailed understanding of the molecular basis that govern the functions and interactions among biomolecules (proteins, nucleic acids, small ligands, etc.) within the cell. The goal of the course is to provide young investigators an intensive training on the state of the art modeling tools oriented to answer a wide variety of functional questions relevant to biology.

The Summer School will provide hands-on training in computational analysis of proteomics data generated by high-resolution mass spectrometry. This powerful technology is increasingly applied to systems-wide investigations of different aspects of cell biology. The practical part will enable participants to perform sophisticated quantitative data analysis in their own future research using the publicly available MaxQuant software (Cox, J. and Mann, M. (2008).

Organoids are revolutionizing the fields of developmental and stem cell biology as they have enabled the in vitro generation of complex structures resembling whole organs. They can be generated either from resident progenitors in adult organs or from pluripotent stem cells (ES and iPSc). When stem cells are grown in a 3D environment, they recapitulate the mechanisms of organogenesis seen in vivo.

The CRG Bioinformatics training will consists of 5 courses spread from February to May 2018 to give a basic knowledge on bioinformatics. These courses are not completely linked therefore you can register to those that you need the most. However, please double check the requisites for each course.
