European Researcher's Night 2019
Тhe European Researchers' Night is a mega event which takes place every year on the last Friday of September simultaneously in about 300 cities all over Europe with the aim of bringing science, research and technology closer to the public. Participants have the chance to discover what researchers really do and why it matters for their daily life. They can even learn what researchers do besides their science!
In Barcelona, the “Nit Europea de la Recerca 2019” will take place on the 27th of September 2019 at various locations, incl. – CosmoCaixa, Centre Cívic Urgell and Vil·la Urània and library Sagrada Familia.

"Stick out your Tongue: the game of the oral microbiome"
Date: 27th September 2019
Time: Session 1 at 19.30 h / Session 2 at 21.30 h

Details: 55 seats, from 10 year-old
Family activity: cooperative card game. The citizen science project Stick out your Tongue from the Centre for Genomic Regulation studied the oral microbiome and its relationship with lifestyle and some diseases or syndromes, together with citizens. This card game compiles the main scientific outputs obtained during the project. It can be played at school or at home. We have organised a massive game during the European Researchers’ Night at CosmoCaixa.
“Who is Who in European Science”

Under the motto “Who is Who in European Science” several research centers (incl. Institute of Photonic Sciences - ICFO, Centre for Genomic Regulation - CRG, Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia - ICIQ, Institute of Marine Sciences - ICM-CSIC) and the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) invite to the FabCafe for an entertaining evening with the following activities:
1.- 18:00h-19:00h: Podium Discussion and exhibition “Bridging STEM to STEAM: Why art can be more than a communication tool in science and technology”
Art and science- they seem like polar opposites, one driven by data and the head, the other by emotion and the heart. One often associated with technical introverts, the other with expressive eccentrics. Although processes may initially look very different, both fields follow a similar route: Artists and scientists tend to approach problems with a similar open-mindedness and inquisitiveness — both imagine, interrogates, challenge current standards without fearing the unknown. However, in many cases arts and design are treated as a communication tool for scientific results.
In this panel discussion, the two artists Carolin Vogler (fashion designer) and Reiko Yamada (composer/ sound artists), who are currently collaborating with two research centres in Barcelona, will discuss with two scientists, their experiences in interdisciplinary projects and how art can contribute more to science by collaborations from the offset in the navigation of the scientific unknown, resulting in unexpected outcomes.
2.- 19:30h – 21:00h: Research Project Exhibition
PhD students of the following seven European Training Networks will showcase their projects and explain how their research impacts people’s daily life.

VIROFLOW - Enabling Technologies and Drug Discovery: Continuous Flow Processes to Discover Novel Antiviral Inhibitors, Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ)

4.- 20:00h – 21:00h: Speed dating with scientists
In a typical speed-dating format, participants have the chance to talk to scientists from various disciplines and research centers and ask them in 2min all that they always wanted to know.

5.- 21:15 - 22:30h: BCN Science Slam
A science slam is a competition, during which young scientists present their own research in max. 10 minutes in a comprehensible, vivid and engaging way. The goal is to win the audience’s mind and hearts as only the audience is the jury and decides, who will win.
Criteria for a good science slam are therefore not only the scientific content but also comprehensibility and humor. The BCN Science Slam was established in March 2017 by the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), which has since then run two editions per year together with different collaborators like the Barcelona Institute for Science and Technology (BIST) and the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA).

Noche Europea de la Investigación 2019
La Noche Europea de la Investigación es un gran evento que tiene lugar cada año el último viernes de septiembre de manera simultánea en 300 ciudades de toda Europa, con el objetivo de acercar la ciencia, la investigación y la tecnología al público general. Los participantes tienen la oportunidad de descubrir qué hacen realmente los investigadores y qué impacto puede tener esta tarea en su vida diaria. ¡Incluso pueden aprender qué hacen los investigadores además de investigar!
En Barcelona, la "Noche Europea de la Investigación 2019" tendrá lugar el 27 de Septiembre de 2019 en varios lugares, incluido CosmoCaixa, los Centros Cívicos Urgell y Vil·la Urània y la biblioteca Sagrada Familia.

"Saca la Lengua: el juego del microbioma oral"

Actividad familiar: juego de cartas cooperativo. El proyecto de ciencia ciudadana Saca la Lengua del Centro de Regulación Genómica estudió el microbioma bucal y su relación con el estilo de vida y algunas enfermedades y síndromes, junto con los ciudadanos. Este juego de cartas compila los resultados científicos principales obtenidos durante el proyecto. Se puede jugar en la escuela o en casa. Hemos organizado una partida masiva durante la Noche Europea de la Investigación en CosmoCaixa.

Bajo el lema "Quién es quién en la investigación europea", varios centros de investigación (incluidos el Instituto de Ciencias Fotónicas - ICFO, el Centro de Regulación Genómica - CRG, el lnstituto de Investigación Química de Cataluña - ICIQ, el Instituto de Ciencias del Mar - ICM-CSIC) y la Associación Marie Curie Alumni (MCAA) os invitan a disfrutar en el FabCafe de una velada entretenida con las siguientes actividades:
1.- 18:00h-19:00h: Coloquio y exposición “Bridging STEM to STEAM: Why art can be more than a communication tool in science and technology”
Arte y ciencia: parecen polos opuestos, uno regido por los datos y la razón, el otro por la emoción y el corazón. Una asociada a menudo a entresijos técnicos, la otra a excentricidades expresivas. Aunque inicialmente podrían parecer muy diferentes, ambos campos siguen un recorrido similar: los artistas y los científicos suelen abordar problemas con una mentalidad abierta y una inquietud similares; ambos se imaginan, se interrogan, desafían los estándares actuales sin tener miedo de lo desconocido. Sin embargo, en muchos casos el arte y el diseño son tratados como una herramienta de comunicación de resultados científicos.
En este coloquio, las dos artistas Carolin Vogler (diseñadora de moda) y Reiko Yamada (compositora / artista de sonido), que actualmente colaboran con dos centros de investigación en Barcelona, debatirán con dos científicos, sus experiencias en proyectos interdisciplinarios y sobre cómo el arte puede contribuir más a la ciencia, mediante colaboraciones desde el inicio del trayecto hacia lo desconocido científicamente, dando lugar a resultados inesperados.
2.- 19:30h – 21:00h: Exposición de Proyectos de Investigación
Estudiantes de doctorado de las siete redes europeas de formación siguientes mostrarán sus proyectos y explicarán como su investigación afecta nuestra vida diaria.

5.- 21:15 - 22:30h: BCN Science Slam
Un Science Slam es una competición, en la que varios jóvenes científicos presentan su propia investigación en máx. 10 minutos de manera comprensible, viva y atractiva. El objetivo es conquistar la mente y el corazón de la audiencia, ya que el público es el jurado y este decide quién ganará.
El criterio para un buen Science Slam, por tanto, no es sólo el contenido científico, sino también la comprensibilidad y el humor. El BCN Science Slam fue creado en Marzo de 2017 por el Centro de Regulación Genómica (CRG), que desde entonces organiza dos ediciones al año junto con diferentes colaboradores como el Barcelona Institute for Science and Technology (BIST) y Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA).

¿Eres un doctorando o postdoc? Si es así, inscríbete aquí para convertirte en uno de los seis fanáticos científicos, y envíanos un vídeo de un minuto donde describas tu proyecto de investigación:

La Nit Europea de la Recerca és un gran esdeveniment que té lloc cada any el darrer divendres de setembre de manera simultània a 300 ciutats de tot Europa, amb l'objectiu d'apropar la ciència, la investigació i la tecnologia al públic general. Els participants tenen l'oportunitat de descobrir què fan realment els investigadors i quin impacte pot tenir aquesta tasca en la seva vida diària. Fins i tot poden aprendre què fan els investigadors a banda de fer recerca!
A Barcelona, la “Nit Europea de la Recerca 2019” tindrà lloc el 27 de Setembre de 2019 a diversos llocs, inclòs el CosmoCaixa, el Centres Cívics Urgell i Vil·la Urània i la biblioteca Sagrada Família.

Activitat familiar: joc de cartes cooperatiu. El projecte de ciència ciutadana Treu la Llengua del Centre de Regulació Genòmica estudià el microbioma oral i la seva relació amb l'estil de vida i algunes malalties i síndromes, juntament amb els ciutadans. Aquest joc compila els resultats científics principals obtinguts durant el projecte. Es pot jugar a l'escola o a casa. Hem organitzat una jugada massiva durant la Nit Europea de la Recerca a CosmoCaixa.

Sota el lema "Qui és Qui en la recerca europea", diversos centres de recerca (inclòs l'Institut de Ciències Fotòniques - ICFO, el Centre de Regulació Genòmica - CRG, l’Institut de Recerca Química de Catalunya - ICIQ, l’Institut de Ciències del Mar - ICM-CSIC) i l'Associació Marie Curie Alumni (MCAA) us conviden a gaudir al FabCafe d’una vetllada entretinguda amb les següents activitats:
1.- 18:00h-19:00h: Col·loqui i exposició “Bridging STEM to STEAM: Why art can be more than a communication tool in science and technology”
Art i ciència: semblen pols oposats, l'un regit per les dades i la raó, l’altre per l’emoció i el cor. Una sovint associada a entrellats tècnics, l’altra a excentricitats expressives. Tot i que inicialment aquests processos poden semblar molt diferents, tots dos camps segueixen un recorregut similar: els artistes i els científics acostumen a abordar problemes amb una mentalitat oberta i una inquietud similars; tots dos s’imaginen, s’interroguen, desafien els estàndards actuals sense tenir por del desconegut. Tanmateix, en molts casos l'art i el disseny són tractats com una eina de comunicació de resultats científics.
En aquest col·loqui, les dues artistes Carolin Vogler (dissenyadora de moda) i Reiko Yamada (compositora / artista de so), que actualment col·laboren amb dos centres de recerca a Barcelona, debatran amb dos científics les seves experiències en projectes interdisciplinaris i sobre com l’art pot contribuir més a la ciència, mitjançant col·laboracions des de l'inici del trajecte cap a allò descongut científicament, donant lloc a resultats inesperats.
2.- 19:30h – 21:00h: Exposició de Projectes de Recerca
Estudiants de doctorat de les set xarxes europees de formació següents mostraran els seus projectes i explicaran com la seva investigació afecta la nostra vida diària.

5.- 21:15 - 22:30h: BCN Science Slam
Un Science Slam és una competició, durant la qual diversos joves científics presenten la seva pròpia investigació en un màx. de 10 minuts de manera comprensible, viva i atractiva. L’objectiu és conquistar la ment i el cor de l’audiència, ja que el públic és el jurat i decideix qui guanyarà.
El criteri per a un bon Science Slam, per tant, no és només el contingut científic, sinó també la comprensibilitat i l'humor. El BCN Science Slam va ser creat el Març del 2017 pel Centre de Regulació Genòmica (CRG), que des d’aleshores organitza dues edicions a l’any juntament amb diferents col·laboradors com el Barcelona Institute for Science and Technology (BIST) i la Marie Curie Alumni Association ( MCAA).
