BRAND NEW: The CRG-UPF Proteomics Unit is the first European facility to get the newest tri-hibrid mass spectometer

CRG Proteomics Unit

Launched internationally last week during the 63rd Annual American Society for Mass Spectometry Conference in Saint Louis (US), the top-class Orbitrap Fusion Lumos from Thermo Fisher Scientific has just been installed in the Proteomics Unit of the Centre for Genomic Regulation and Pompeu Fabra University.

This instrument is the first unit installed in Europe and the third in the world. With the new tri-hibrid mass spectrometer the CRG researchers will now be able to perform experiments with a better and more precise detection of proteins and protein complexes. “Thanks to this new instrument we will be able to run a broader range of comprehensive proteomics experiments. It features enhanced sensitivity and faster mass analyzers and its new fragmentation capabilities will enable our scientists to perform better characterization of post-transcriptional modifications“ says Eduard Sabidó, head of the CRG-UPF Proteomics Unit. “With the new Orbitrap Fusion Lumos we completed the currently available Orbitrap family present in our facility, thus being one of the most well-equipped proteomics units in Europe”.

Please, find more information about the Orbitrap Fusion Lumos technology here as well as at the press release of its presentation last week here.
