Organization

The CRG is a non-profit foundation funded by the Government of Catalonia, the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness and external funding. The CRG is currently led by the Director, Dr. Luis Serrano, appointed by the CRG Board of Trustees.

The CRG is organised into three main areas:

1. Scientific Area

Research at the CRG is organised in 4 interconnected research programmes that report to the Director:

  • Bioinformatics and Genomics
  • Cell and Developmental Biology
  • Gene Regulation, Stem Cells and Cancer
  • Systems Biology

The Graduate Committee takes care of the PhD students, and the Postdoc Committee takes care of the postdoctoral researchers.

2. Core Facilities

The facilities below report to the Director of the Core Facilities:

  • Advanced Light Microscopy Unit
  • Bioinformatics Unit
  • Biomolecular Screening & Protein Technologies Unit
  • Genomics Unit
  • Advanced Light Microscopy Unit
  • CRG/UPF Proteomics Unit
  • CRG/UPF FACS Unit
  • In-house service: Histology
  • In-house service: Scientific Information Technologies

3. Administration & Research Support Services

The departments below report to the Managing Director:

  • Finance, Suppliers and Secretariat
  • Human Resources
  • Controlling and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Legal
  • General Services
  • Information Technologies (IT)
  • Grants Office
  • Communications & PR

The Technology and Business Development Office and International and Scientific Affairs Office report to the Director (rather than to the Managing Director) but work in close collaboration with the above-mentioned departments.
