Big Data is the term for a collection of data sets so large and complex that it becomes difficult to process using on-hand database management tools or traditional data processing applications (wikipedia)

Which technology is used to gather the vast amount of data produced by humans? How can this technology by accessible? Are we going to use them in our daily life? Which are their weaknesses and strengths? Is the use of these technologies in health research foreseen?  Which are the technical, budgetary, legislative limits of this technology?

Experts in bioinformatics and data will address these questions in an open debate:

  • Toni Gabaldón, ICREA Research Professor and Principal Investigator, Comparative Genomics lab, CRG
  • Alejandro Gimenez, Chief Technology Officer, EMC
  • Moderator: Rodny Hernández Coello, Scientific Systems Manager, CRG
